The best time to be thinking about Xmas wreaths

It may seem weeks away, but Christmas is now only next month, so it’s not too early to start planning for the festive season. And Xmas wreaths could be the perfect place to start your seasonal preparations. Then you’ll have one job ticked off your list and one less thing to worry about!

Xmas wreaths are something you see on almost every door during the holiday season. For some people they are their only outdoor decoration, and even those who go all out with lights and an inflatable Santa Claus and reindeer on the roof still have Christmas wreaths on the door.

Add to your Xmas wreaths once you have bought them by decorating them with the things you love. Let your imagination run riot and your creativity soar.

Beat the festive crush by chosing one of the many beautiful Christmas wreaths available online and then add your own decorations. Look around your garden for natural decorations like acorns. If you are a bird lover, small stuffed birds are ideal. Winter doves, cardinals and chickadees are favourites. If you love the ocean, add sea shells. These all look beautiful displayed amongst the fresh balsam fir boughs of Christmas wreaths.

Consider adding fruit to your Xmas wreaths once you have bought them. Red fruits like pomegranates, crabapples, sprigs of red pepper berries and,of course, holly berries, look beautiful. Eucalyptus, magnolia, holly and amaryllis also look wonderful. Eucalyptus adds a particularly pungent aroma to the fresh, fragrant scent of the balsam fir.

You could even place a family photo in a frame at the centre of the garland above the door with a seasonal greeting beneath it. This adds a very personal welcome from your whole family to all visitors.

Lights can also be added to Xmas wreaths. Buy a string of battery operated lights and string them through the wreath. Use your imagination to make your Christmas wreaths unique and personal this year. You’ll find it much easier if you start out with a fresh wreath and then add your own personalised decorations.

Whether traditional or modern, a wreath adds a touch of glamour as well as a warm welcome to your home or business premises.

With many of the products available made entirely from natural and sustainable source, there’s no reason why Christmas wreaths should cost the earth.

Equally, with so many artificial versions around to buy, you can have use your wreath again and again – or add to your collection so you can alternate each year. Wreaths made of gold baubles, or frosted wooden stars are just some of the attractive versions available this year.

The Internet is a great place to go looking for Xmas wreaths. And don’t forget that Christmas wreaths are also a lovely thing to give away as seasonal gifts in their own right.
